About us
We have embodied environmental competence for more than 30 years.
In a region deeply marked by lignite mining and whose character was shaped by surface mining pits, a small group of former miners and chemists came together in 1990 to initiate a new paradigm of environmental awareness. Thus begins the story of MUEG Mitteldeutsche Umwelt- und Entsorgung GmbH, which has made us into the strong company we are today.
As part of our success story, local recreation and nature now typify life in our region. We take responsibility for sustainable change. As a reliable business partner, we find the best solutions for disposal and environmental remediation.
With 250 employees at 13 locations in south-east Germany and with national and international projects, we have also established ourselves as a reliable service provider throughout Europe.

What defines us:
Environmentally friendly solutions are our top priority, regardless of whether we develop new processes or recycle and dispose of various wastes. We work to bring recycled products back into the economic cycle. In this way, resources of natural raw materials are protected and preserved for future generations.
One success story in this field is the industrial recycling of gypsum-containing waste: We operate the first stationary treatment plant for such materials in Germany, which has earned us the Environmental Award given by the State of Saxony.
Our experience and reliability set us apart. Nevertheless, standing still is not one of our strengths. We are driven by innovation. 10% of our employees already work in research and development. In addition, we maintain close partnerships with universities and research institutions.

Did you know?
MUEG for has filed a patent for the recycling of the rotor blades of wind turbines.
A total of 1.5 million metric tonnes of mineral waste is recycled per year at our locations with five recycling and land exchange sites.
The gypsum recycling plant in Großpösna can process up to 75,000 tons of toxic waste per year in such a way that it can be recycled directly for the production of gypsum board and other gypsum products.
