Ash dump, thermal power station “Nikola Tesla”

Completion period: 2004 - 2006

Securing the ash dump of the thermal power station Nikola Tesla near Belgrade requires preparing a complete site evaluation. The focus here is on safety, restructuring and recultivation of the ash dump. The main task during the completion period was to work out advice, recommendations and technologies as to how the ashes should be prepared and treated with sustainable environmental compatibility in mind.

Technical feasibility study for converting the oil shale ash dumps in Narva

Completion period: 2006 - 2010

The power plants Eesti PP and Balti PP have been operating with oil shale since 1973 (Eesti) and 1963 (Balti). The annual ash quantity is approx. 6 million metric tonnes for Eesti PP and 1 million metric tonnes for Balti PP. The bottom ash and filter ash is integrated into aquatic dumps with high quantities of excess water. The impacted waters are subject to environmental degradation, with pH values higher than 9.
